"The Marketing Module was the highlight of my William and Mary MBA experience. In the module, we interacted with experienced professionals from leading companies which led to my job at Smithfield Foods as the marketing execution manager." -- Yelena Shekhovtsova, MBA 2005
the cam concept
Co-designed by faculty and industry leaders, Career Acceleration Modules integrate advanced academic training in business with ongoing, direct contact with business experts. Each CAM provides an intensive, eight-week immersion course in academic and experiential activities including hands-on trips to corporate settings, consulting projects, case analyses, business simulation exercises and an impressive lineup of speakers.
This immersion in a business environment allows you to cultivate a wealth of relevant, field-specific experience to discuss during job interviews and apply immediately to your new career. Delivered by a team of faculty members and Executive Partners who teach with an interdisciplinary approach, the Career Acceleration Modules are critical in leveraging your MBA skills in your job search.
cam speakers
Module speakers include active chief executives of major global companies, owners of private firms in the region and our own Executive Partners. They also include industry professionals who hold positions our MBAs aspire to reach in the next five to 10 years. These professionals provide valuable insight into how they have successfully navigated the challenges of personal career development. The broad diversity among the speakers' experiences exposes you to business perspectives ranging from those at the very top of an organization to key operational managers, while offering topics that have practical content.
company and site visits
Among the most valuable aspects of the CAMs is their focus on real-time business issues. We achieve this by taking CAM students on field trips to observe and participate in the application of current business methods and analytical tools to company decision-making processes.
Past modules have included visits to the Securities Exchange Commission, The World Bank, The U.S. Import/Export Bank, The Overseas Private Investment Bank, Anteon Corporation, Morgenthaler Ventures, Johnson & Johnson, the Campbell Soup Company, Capital One, Philip Morris USA, Smithfield Foods, Hamilton Beach Proctor-Silex, DuPont, Cisco Systems, IBM and SAS.
