Executive Partners

Partners. Mentors. Friends.

"The Mason School has developed a unique and powerful asset drawn from its environs: a team of former and current business executives who are devoted to supporting the school's M.B.A. program." -- The Wall Street Journal January 23, 2006

The Executive Partners Program is a truly unique asset of the William & Mary MBA experience. Ninety-five active and retired Senior Business Executives from many different industries make their experience and guidance available to you on a day-to-day basis.

The EPs are woven inextricably into the William & Mary MBA program to help you not just learn business, but live it. You'll directly benefit from them in many ways, including:

Personal development coaching

Your relationship with the EPs starts from your arrival on campus, when you meet your personal coach. He or she will be your partner throughout your education. It's a rich, personal relationship that extends through, and often even beyond, your time at W&M. Executive Partners, as well as the personal availability of the Faculty, will help contribute to your personal development through both in-class and out-of-class interactions. This personal element is a key difference of the William & Mary MBA program, contributing to your future success in the business world and in life.

Educational mentoring

EPs provide in-class support, working with the faculty to demonstrate how business theory actually applies to business reality. They participate in the design and delivery of the Career Acceleration Modules, during the classes as well as the trips to major companies, such as Philip Morris, Capital One and Smithfield Foods. EPs serve as your expert advisors during the second year Field Consultancy projects, which add important, real-world experience to your education and resume. Through these, Executive Partners help you see the links between business learning and the real business world.

Career and job search guidance

Executive Partners, working with MBA Career Services, are readily available to discuss their own career areas to give you a real-world perspective on different paths open to you as a William & Mary MBA graduate. EPs come from virtually all industries, from Heavy Industry to Consumer Packaged Goods, from Investment Banking to Human Resources, from Sales Management to Entrepreneurial Ventures or Consulting, and many more. As Carrie Sung ('08) says, "Where else can you want to have lunch with a Senior V.P. or a CEO tomorrow... and actually be able to do it?"
